Karen Smith Dunning, 60, of Princeton

Karen Smith Dunning, age 60, of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at her home in Princeton.

She was born on May 30, 1965, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to Don Smith and Elsie Vanderveer Smith.

A dedicated mother and grandmother, Karen was a compassionate caregiver, having worked as a CNA at various medical facilities, most recently at Princeton Health & Rehabilitation.

Karen was a member of Sinking Fork Christian Church and also attended services at Life In Christ in Marion. In her free time, she loved being outdoors, fishing, and watching one of her favorite shows, Little House on the Prairie, which mirrored her old-soul character. Her three grandchildren were the light of her life, and she loved being their “Nanna”.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen is survived by her children, Shane Goodwin (Amy) of Hopkinsville and Savannah Dunning of Princeton; her grandchildren, Lewis, Addie, and Timothy Goodwin; and her sisters, Kathy Smith Goodwin (Kent) of Princeton and Lisa Smith Hancock (Trevor) of Cerulean, KY.

Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
