Debbie Smith, 72, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral at Second Baptist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Hopkinsville, KY she was born February 20, 1953 the daughter of the late Clifton Thomas Atwood and Gertrude Annette Barrick Atwood. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Camille Miles McCorkle Atwood.
Debbie was retired from the Christian County Public School System having spent the majority of her career as the secretary at North Drive Middle School. Debbie was an active member of Second Baptist Church where she was a longtime children’s Sunday School teacher. Debbie was also active in the WMU, choir, and served on various committees at the church.
Survivors include her husband: David Smith; her sons: Aaron (Jennifer) Smith of Bowling Green, KY, Adam (Rachel) Smith of Hopkinsville, KY, and Alex (Bri) Smith of Hopkinsville, KY; her brother: Don (Beverly) Atwood of Hopkinsville, KY; and her grandchildren: Lillian Smith, Audrey Smith, Adleigh Smith, Miles Smith, and Anna Smith.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
