Larry Ray Stroud, 79, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died at 4:50 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Rick McGowan officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Portia, Arkansas he was born on December 25, 1945 the son of the late Amal Stroud and Fern Marie Hall Stroud. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister; Carolyn Stroud and his brother, Wayne Stroud, his stepdaughter, Ellen Walker; Son in laws, Gary Sanders and Delbert Adkins; granddaughter, Jennifer Walker and great great granddaughter, Saferiah Roberts.
He worked at Phelps-Dodge for 32 years where he served as maintenance foreman and also worked at Western State Hospital. He was a United States Army veteran having received the rank of E4 and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Northwest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Nettie Catron Stroud of Hopkinsville, KY; his children Doug (Andrea) Stroud of Gallatin, TN, Jason Stroud of South Carolina, Lynn Scott of Russellville, KY, John Denney of Hopkinsville, KY, Susan (Bobby) Hester of Hopkinsville, KY, Rose Sanders of Cerulean, KY, Sam (Mickie) Denney of Murray, KY, Pam Adkins of Mooreland, IN and Don (Sherry) Denney of New Castle, IN; son in law, John Walker of Middletown, IN. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. His siblings; Kevin Stroud, Kathy Crabtree, Karen Theime and Robert Stroud all of Texas.
