Fort Campbell will close Gate 7 to all privately owned vehicles beginning September 2 for extended repairs aimed at fixing pavement damage and reducing flooding.
Work will also take place on Ripcord Road, with that start date to be announced about two weeks in advance.
The closure will increase traffic at other gates and bring more commercial vehicle traffic to the Gate 10 area. Commercial vehicles, including food trucks, will still check in at Gate 7 for passes before following posted signs to Gate 10. Drivers will be given route maps. School buses carrying off-post student-athletes will enter through TC Freeman Gate (Gate 4).
Matthew Brackett, Director of Public Works, said recent weather has worsened road and drainage issues. The project will repair pavement and improve stormwater runoff, and they recognize the inconvenience these necessary repairs may cause and appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to enhance these vital infrastructure areas.
During repairs, drivers should allow extra travel time to and from post. Gate hours for other entry points remain the same. Detour signs and traffic control will be in place during lane closures.
