The Helping Hands Back to School Drive at Hancock’s Neighborhood Market raised more than $35,000 Thursday afternoon to help the organization prepare children for back to school.
Helping Hands volunteers will be able to take more than 200 children back to school shopping before classes begin in Trigg County Wednesday, August 13. WKDZ’s Cindy Allen-Lax announced the total as the Live Afternoon Drive wrapped up Thursday afternoon.

One of the major donations of $10,000 came in from the Back 2 Back Foundation with Julie Gilkey saying the organization founded by Brice Long tries to help families in many ways.
Cindy Allen-Lax says various other donations from the community were received including a donation from community member LaDonna Diggs who provided a cheer.
