The Christian County Grand Jury issued multiple indictments Friday on charges ranging from kidnapping and sexual abuse to unlawful imprisonment and wanton endangerment.
A true bill was returned on Deonte Walker-Coleman, of Hopkinsville, on charges of kidnapping, first-degree strangulation, first-degree sexual abuse related to domestic violence, and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
Walker-Coleman was arrested in June after Hopkinsville Police said he was involved in a verbal argument with a woman while driving, then physically assaulted her and choked her to the point she lost consciousness. Police said he then forced the woman to perform sexual acts at gunpoint, and that she escaped by jumping from the moving vehicle. Authorities also reported Walker-Coleman took the woman’s phone and keys.
Gerald Rothenburger, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, 3rd offense with an aggravator, reckless driving, and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the charges against Rothenburger are from a May incident where deputies said he was driving recklessly and speeding on Butler Road and nearly hit two deputies who were on another call talking to two juveniles. Deputies reported he then reversed, passed them again, and later stopped for law enforcement.
Brandon Bunch, of Ft. Campbell, was indicted for second-degree strangulation related to domestic violence, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree intimidating a participant in a legal process, third-degree terroristic threatening and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Bunch is accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend during a May argument. Oak Grove Police reported Bunch choked her, took her phone, refused to let her leave the vehicle, and then tried to pull her out near the Carter Road bridge. When a passerby stopped, police said the woman was able to escape, but as Bunch sped off, she fell to the ground.
