A traffic stop on Hopkinsville Road in Trigg County led to drug charges for a Clay woman Tuesday night.

Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they stopped a vehicle driven by Timothy Wharton for his license plate not being illuminated and found he had a DUI-suspended license and no proof of insurance or registration.

During the stop, he reportedly gave consent to search the vehicle, and a backpack was found with meth and syringes.

Deputies say a passenger in the vehicle, 39-year-old Savannah Fox, stated the bag was hers. Wharton was cited to court for the problems with his vehicle, and his driver’s license being suspended.

The vehicle was then towed. Fox was arrested and charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
