Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Hayes officiating and burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. Burkhead was born in Hopkinsville, Ky, on July 3, 1947, to the late Rupert Rollins Francis and Henry Mae Armstrong Francis. She was a homemaker and faithful church member of 66 years to New Barren Springs Baptist Church. She recently attended First Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, where she enjoyed her Sunday School Class. As a teen, Carol belonged to a gospel trio including her sister and cousin, Shirley Scott Farmer. They sang at church gatherings, homecomings, and funeral services. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles David “C.D.” Burkhead, and her sister, Donna Krahn.

Mrs. Burkhead lived a life of quiet strength, content with simple things – the comfort of home, a kind word, and peace in the presence of God. She was devoted to her family, her church and was a caregiver to many. She gave to others without hesitation and had a servant’s heart. Carol remained resilient through life’s storms – she stood steady – a pillar of grace and unwavering faith. She had an agreeable nature, a gentle heart, and radiated calmness and compassion. Her legacy is not just in the memories we cherish, but in the love she showed to others, the faith that remained through trials, and the many lives she touched. Her greatest accomplishment was loving those who knew her as “Mama”, “Aunt Tatty”, “Granny”, and “GiGi”.

Survivors include her son, Brian Keith Burkhead, and wife Lisa of Hopkinsville; her daughter Leigh Ann Stewart and husband Mike of Hopkinsville; four grandchildren, Tyler Petty, Ellery Wallace, Alivia Stewart, and Audrey Stewart. She had two great-grandchildren, Tilly Petty and Tate Huskisson.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Gideons International, WNKJ Radio, or Impact Ministries.
