The Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced that Christian County is officially joining the newly established West Kentucky Film Commission.
What began as a regional initiative in Hopkins County has quickly grown into a broad coalition, now including Bowling Green, Oak Grove, Franklin, Central City, Henderson, Owensboro, and Paducah.
The Commission aims to market Western Kentucky as a prime destination for film and television production. It will focus on attracting production companies, building the local creative workforce, and driving economic development through increased tourism and job creation.
A key advantage for the region is Kentucky’s robust film tax incentive program, offering a 30-35% rebate on production spending, with $75 million allocated annually through the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive Program. The state expects the program to generate over $250 million in economic activity.
Film industry veteran Kristi Kilday, who recently relocated from Los Angeles to Owensboro, is helping lead the commission’s efforts. She toured Hopkinsville this week, evaluating local venues and attractions as potential filming sites.
