Florence Mayfield, age 82, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Born on July 25, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late C.T. Bridges and Willa Lee Sharp Bridges.
Florence was a 1960 graduate of Trigg County High School. On May 24, 1961, she married Herbert Mayfield and they were blessed with three children. For many years, Florence was a dedicated employee at Hoover, later Johnson Controls. She also briefly worked as a waitress at Cadiz Restaurant and at Lake Barkley State Park.
Florence was a longtime member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. She loved animals, enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her plants, and always kept an immaculate house, welcoming friends and family alike. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and being “Granny” to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Herbert Mayfield, in 2014; her son, Steven Mayfield; her sister, Carolyn Williams, and brother-in-law, Don Williams.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Mayfield of Clarksville, TN; her daughter, Laura Mayfield Fagersten (Scott) of Cadiz; her brother, Clyde Bridges (Charlotte) of Hopkinsville, KY; five grandchildren, Eric Mayfield (Paige), Lauren Mayfield Combs (Lindsey), Chris Mayfield (Ashton), Heather Holland, and Aaron Hawkins (Molly); ten great-grandchildren; and extended family members, Jodi and Ricky Hawkins.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Drury Bridges Cemetery, Maple Grove Road in Cadiz, at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2025.
