The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for western Kentucky and southern Indiana on Thursday. Heat index readings are expected to crest above 100 degrees through the weekend.

Meteorologists say this latest heat wave will produce high temperatures in the low 90s through the weekend. Heat index readings are expected to be between 105 and 109 through early next week. Dew points will remain in the low to mid-70s for the next week, contributing to the increased heat index and making the weather feel oppressive at its peak.

Be sure to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors when possible. Also, double-check your vehicle when you get out to make sure you didn’t leave a pet or child inside.
