A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will begin its extended closure near the Kentucky 124 and Kentucky 139 intersection next week.

The Cerulean Road will be closed at the intersection with Jefferson Street beginning Monday, July 21st, for the realignment and reconstruction of the intersection.

KYTC said the work is expected to take about six weeks, weather permitting, and this phase of the project should not impact traffic on Kentucky 139.

The project is part of the state’s Six-Year Highway Plan and represents an investment of $872,000. Work includes roadway excavation, intersection realignment and reconstruction, storm water installation, and both asphalt and concrete paving.

The project began with the demolition of the former Wilson’s Market store.

Jim Smith Contracting is the primary contractor, and work is expected to be completed in its entirety by November 15.
