Families are invited to Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area on Saturday for Cool Critters Day—an annual celebration at the Woodlands Nature Station featuring live animal encounters, hands-on activities, and special guests.
Annabelle Barr, marketing coordinator for the Nature Station, says it’s the one day each year visitors can see more animals in one place than any other time, and noted this season, they will be celebrating reptiles with the special guests and activities.
Throughout the day, visitors can learn about fascinating animals from expert presenters, including the Kentucky Reptile Zoo, Animalogy, Lee Family Farms, and the University of Kentucky Entomology Department.
The event also includes interactive fun for children, such as crafts, games, face painting, a bounce house, and several live animal programs.
The Nature Station is located inside the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, at 3146 Silver Trail Road near Cadiz.
Admission to the event is $9 for ages 16 and up, $7 for kids ages 5 to 15, and free for children 4 and under.
Cool Critters Day is sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority, Murray State University’s Watershed Studies Institute, Murray Bank, Taylor Family Dental, and the Veterinary Medical Center.
A full schedule of activities and participating groups is available online through the Friends of Land Between the Lakes.
