A Hopkinsville man was charged after he reportedly fled from law enforcement the previous day but was located during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Sunday, driven by 33-year-old William Webster, but he fled, traveling down several streets before the pursuit came to an end on Gospel Peace Road, leading to $3,000 in damage to the vehicle and him fleeing on foot.

Deputies say a surveillance operation at Evergreen Apartments led to them seeing Webster as a passenger in a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Cierra White on Westwood Drive.

White was reportedly stopped for excessive window tint and unconfirmed insurance, and during the stop, she would not fully roll down her window.

Deputies say Webster was located in the vehicle and resisted arrest but was taken into custody. Two sets of brass knuckles and two guns, one loaded with hollow point ammunition, were reportedly found in the vehicle as well.

Webster was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, speeding, resisting arrest, using restricted ammo during a felony, first-degree criminal mischief, and first- and second-degree fleeing or evading police. Along with having a warrant for probation violation. White was also arrested and charged with failure to wear a seat belt, no insurance, excessive window tinting, second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension, and carrying a concealed weapon.
