Hoptown Idol Karaoke Competition Rules and Regulations

No entry fee.

Contest will be held starting at 6 pm on Friday, August 1st, 2025 outside at Founders Square, 198 W. 9th Street, Hopkinsville, KY. In the event of inclement weather, the contest may be rescheduled.

Contestants submit a video to WKDZ/WHVO to be considered as one of eight performers which will be selected to perform on the night.  There is no Open Mic opportunity.

Four finalists will be selected on the night from the eight performances. After the four perform again, a Hoptown Idol winner will be crowned.

Video auditions can be uploaded by visiting CONTESTS at www.wkdzradio.com or www.whvoradio.com.

Each contestant must sing a song in the finals different than their online submission song, or their first song.

The Hoptown Idol winner receives a $500 Grand Prize, to be awarded after the competition. Winner must be present at the competition to claim the Grand Prize. Winner will also receive a 2-hour professional recording session from Hip Hoptown Records.

The Hoptown Idol Winner will be determined by a panel of judges.  Bring your supporters to cheer on the performance!

All contestants must be amateur entertainers (no paid recording contract).

Competition is for solo performances only.

Contestants may bring their own CD or thumb drive for DJ to play.

Contestants must complete an entry waiver on contest night prior to performing.

Contestants must be 10 years of age or older. Parent/guardian signature/permission required for contestants under 18.

Previous Hoptown Idol winners are not eligible to enter the competition.

Each performance will be no longer than 5:00 minutes.
