Hopkinsville Man Charged With Choking His Girlfriend

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend on West Edmunds Street in Hopkinsville Thursday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 46-year-old Terrance Churchwell choked his girlfriend, put his fingers down her throat, knocked her to the ground, and struck her head on the concrete.

She was reportedly in and out of consciousness while talking with law enforcement, and an ambulance was called to assist her.

Churchwell was reportedly found to have cocaine in his pocket, resisted arrest, and had to be tased before being taken into custody.

He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, resisting arrest, and possession of cocaine.
