Pastor Connie Faires, age 85, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at her home in Cadiz.
She was born on October 21, 1939, in Vinton, Ohio, to the late William Comer and the late Victoria Perkins Comer.
An alumnus of Ohio University, Connie earned a Bachelor of Science degree that would serve as the foundation for her lifelong commitment to learning and teaching. In 1985, she answered a profound calling to serve as a pastor, a role she embraced with grace and humility for two decades. Pastor Connie ministered to numerous United Methodist churches in Ohio, touching countless lives with her unwavering faith and compassionate spirit until her retirement in 2005.
A devoted member of Cadiz Methodist Church, Connie was an avid student of the Bible, always seeking to deepen her understanding of God’s word, and she had the innate ability to foster relationships. Among her many other interests, she enjoyed drawing and riding motorcycles with her late husband Larry, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Connie’s heart was most full when she was surrounded by her loving family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Faires; a son-in-law, Roland Smith; and two great-granddaughters, Sadie Braden and Cassandra Braden.
She is survived by her children, Victoria Powers-Smith, Rebecca Auflick (Bruce), both of Cadiz, Valerie Braden of Tallahassee, FL, Karen Wilfong (Mark) of Dinwiddie, VA, and Lane Powers (Evelyn) of Texarkana, AR; her stepsons, Charles Faires of Cadiz and Harley Faires (Melanie) of Gorham, ME; her sister, Rita Cardwell of Vinton, OH; ten grandchildren, Matthew Braden (Sherry), Andrea Auflick Shidler, Joey Auflick, Jessica Braden, Bridget Braden, Jami Wease (Jeff), Katie Wilfong, Luke Braden, Evelina Powers, and Liam Powers; thirteen great-grandchildren, Finn, Ava, Dillon, Veronica, Michael Ray, Jolene, Deandra, Wyatt, Lucas, Kingston, Jasmine, Josie, and Josh; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Cadiz Methodist Church, 482 Lakota Drive in Cadiz, at 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 5, 2025, with Dr. Scott Wilson and Rev. Jamus Redd officiating. Burial will follow in Trigg Memory Acres. Visitation will precede the service, from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour.
