Officials with Kentucky State Parks announced Friday night that Lake Barkley State Resort Park is taking immediate action following a data breach involving guests’ credit card information used to guarantee reservations for the recent Mother’s Day brunch event.

In response to the incident, Kentucky State Parks is reportedly working with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation so those who are responsible can be brought to justice.

According to state park officials, they have identified and contacted individuals who may have been affected by the data breach. In addition, they said formal letters are being mailed to notify all impacted guests and the steps they can take to protect their information. To strengthen security and prevent incidents future incident, all credit card transactions will now be processed exclusively through a secure and encrypted point-of-sale system. Officials with Kentucky State Parks emphasizes that guest safety remains a top priority and they are committed to protecting the personal information of everyone.
