Fort Campbell officials will say farewell and job well-done to the current Garrison Commander and welcome the new commander Wednesday morning.
The Change of Command ceremony is set for Wednesday, June 18, at 10:00 at the 101st Airborne Division Headquarters. U.S. Army Garrison Fort Campbell will bid farewell to Col. Christopher J. Midberry and welcome Col. James M. Snowden.

Outgoing commander Col. Midberry is headed to Washington D.C. to serve as the Chief of Staff to the Military District of Washington, Joint Task Force, National Capital Region. As the garrison commander, Midberry oversaw the garrison through response efforts to the Dec. 9, 2023, tornado in Clarksville, Tennessee; the response efforts to floods in Oak Grove, Kentucky, and Clarksville, Tennessee, in February and April 2025; the upgrade of the TC Freeman (Gate 4) Visitor Control Center; the completion of new homes for junior enlisted families; the renovation of Vietnam-Era barracks; the signing of seven of nine of Fort Campbell’s active Intergovernmental Support Agreements with community partners (three renewals and four new); and more.
“You’re all unsung heroes,” said Midberry June 3 during his final garrison employee town hall. “Make no mistake; the units on this installation are charged with preparing for war and they are the best in the Army. They are the best in the Army and you, every single person in this room, plays a role in enabling those units to prepare for war…It’s one team with one goal to support the war-fighter and their families. The units on this installation will answer the call like they always have. I want to say thank you for that and never forget what you do has strategic implications and is strategically important.”

Strategically located on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line, the 105,000-acre installation possesses a unique capability to deploy mission-ready contingency forces by air, rail, highway and inland waterway.
