Murray State University is making moves in Hopkinsville — relaunching its regional campus with new events, community outreach, and a summer program aimed at giving both kids and adults hands-on educational opportunities.
That’s Shannon Slate, Director of Murray State’s Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Regional Campuses. She says the university is working hard to reconnect with the community — and fill the building with life.
One big step? A new series launching this July called ABC Nights — short for Adults Belong in College. Four Monday evening sessions will help adults explore career options, navigate financial aid, and build confidence in the tech and tools used in online learning.
The first night kicks off with a career interest survey, followed by sessions on FAFSA, scholarships, online learning platforms, and tech skills — from using Canvas to sending a professor an email.
For the younger crowd, the campus is also hosting its first-ever Racer Adventure Days summer camp, July 7th through 11th. It’s open to kids ages 9 to 14 and costs $125.
History will come alive with hands-on projects and local museum artifacts — something close to Slate’s heart as a former history teacher.
And before the summer kicks into high gear, Murray State is inviting the community to an open house this Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.
From social work to cybersecurity, education to military affairs — the university hopes to be a one-stop hub for learning, resources, and connection in Hopkinsville.
More information about ABC Nights, Racer Adventure Days, and the open house is available through the Murray State Hopkinsville campus.
