Katie “Mama Kay” Gee, age 84, of Elkton, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Tennova Healthcare of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a graveside service that will be at Riverside Cemetery at a later date with Rev. Mike Wood and Rev. Terry Joiner officiating. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Gee was born on September 1, 1940, in Galveston, TX, the daughter of the late Jesse Mott and Edna Hudgins Mott; however, she was raised by her grandparents. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Fairview and retired from being the Director of A Kid’s Place, and Co-owner of Katie’s Korner and Pappaw’s Auction. IN addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Freeland; her son, Timmy Gee; and her granddaughter, Casey Turner Cocchi.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Harvey Gee of Elkton, KY; her sons, Steven (Sung Whang) Freeland of Vermont, Mark Gee of Christian County, James Gee of Hopkinsville; her brothers, Charlie “Sam” (Terry) Graybeal of Oakland City, IN, James (Pearl) Graybeal of San Antonio, TX; her sister, Cathrine (Tom) Lucas of Illinois; her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
