Jean Hayes Carver, age 95, of Hopkinsville, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Christian Health Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Slaughter officiating and burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM until the service hour at 4:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Jean was born in Montgomery County, TN, on May 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Collier Lee Smith and Ines Anna Wilkens Smith. Jean worked in education as a teacher’s aide and a secretary for the school at both Highland Elementary School and Holiday Elementary School. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a former 4-H Leader, a former member of Stephen Ministries, and a former Sunday School Teacher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Hayes; her second husband, Carroll Carver; her daughter, Sharon Lee Davis; her three brothers, Robert, Howard, and Joe Smith; her sisters, Kathleen Gann, Roberta Copple, Betty Byrge; and her grandson, Adam Davis.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Hayes (John) Coghill of Williamstown, KY, Susan Hayes (Charlie) Weatherford of Madisonville, KY, Kathy Hayes (Vic) Cunningham of Hendersonville, TN; her eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Hillcrest Baptist Church at 920 Skyline Drive, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
