Residents in six Kentucky counties affected by the severe weather and the devastating EF-4 tornado on May 16 are now eligible for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service approved the aid on June 2.
D-SNAP provides short-term food assistance to people in areas under a federal disaster declaration that includes individual assistance. That declaration was made by President Donald Trump on May 24, following tornadoes and damaging storms across the region.
Eligible residents or workers in Caldwell, Laurel, Pulaski, Russell, Trigg and Union Counties can apply for D-SNAP from June 5 through June 12.
Current SNAP recipients may also apply for replacement benefits if their food was lost due to power outages or storm-related damage.
To apply, call the DCBS D-SNAP hotline at 1-855-306-8959, or visit one of the following locations between 8 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Saturday (closed Sunday, June 8):
Caldwell County: 300 MicBeth Dr., Princeton, KY 42445
Trigg County: 277 Commerce St., Cadiz, KY 42211
