HCC 2025 GED Graduation Ceremony Set For Next Thursday

Hopkinsville Community College (HCC) will celebrate the achievements of 70 adult learners during the 2025 GED® Graduation Ceremony 7 PM Thursday, June 5. The event will be held in the Thomas L. Riley Lecture Hall, located in HCC’s Auditorium Building.

Amy Watson, former reporter and anchor for WTVF-TV in Nashville, will deliver the keynote address. Watson retired in October 2024 after a 35-year career in broadcast journalism. Her work earned her nine Emmy Awards, multiple Associated Press honors including Best Reporter, an RTNDA award for Best Feature Story, and recognition from the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters. Her career also included work in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Paducah, Kentucky.

Watson and her husband, Derrick, have been married for 32 years. They have three children: Aaron (married to Andrea, with three sons), Sarah (married to John Morgan Francis), and Anna, a successful esthetician in Nashville’s Gulch area.

Since retiring, Watson has promoted her second children’s book, Ellicott Moon, and recently opened an antiques booth in a local peddler’s mall in Hopkinsville.

HCC’s Kentucky Adult Education (KYAE) program is located on the second floor of the Technology Center. KYAE offers free instruction for individuals preparing to earn their GED®/High School Equivalency Diploma.
