A Clarksville woman was charged with DUI and terroristic threatening after a traffic stop on Country Club Lane in Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Sandra Simmons was seen running a red light, crossing into the opposite lane, and failing to stop right away for law enforcement.
She reportedly had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol, and would not follow basic directions. Police say Simmons told them she had been drinking, and open alcoholic beverage containers could be seen in her vehicle.
After being taken into custody, Police say she beat her head against a partition in the back of the cruiser. While at the hospital, she reportedly threatened to kill anyone involved in her arrest, started yelling, and had to be held down to get her blood drawn.
Simmons was arrested and charged with third-degree terroristic threatening, DUI, operating on a suspended or revoked license, second-degree disorderly conduct, disregarding a traffic control device, reckless driving, no registration plates, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
