Country music star Jo Dee Messina is joining forces with the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center and Kentucky State Police to bring hope and support to those affected by the recent devastating storms in Laurel County.
As a gesture of appreciation and solidarity, Messina is providing free tickets to First Responders and storm victims for her performance on Thursday, May 30, at the New Barn Theatre in Renfro Valley. The event aims to offer a night of relief, unity, and recognition for those who have endured hardship and for the emergency workers who responded in the aftermath.
Alongside the concert, Messina is launching a “Stuff the Truck” donation drive to benefit tornado victims in the London area. A semi-truck will be stationed at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center and Valley Liquor (2440 Richmond Street, Mount Vernon, Kentucky) from Monday, May 26, through Saturday, May 31. Donations will be accepted daily between 9 AM and 9 PM.
The drive will collect essential supplies to be distributed in coordination with the Kentucky State Police. Requested donation items include:
Basic necessities: socks, underwear, feminine hygiene products, diapers, baby food/formula, first aid supplies
Household supplies: bleach, garbage bags, mops, disinfectant, paper towels, toilet paper
Emergency and outdoor gear: tarps, totes, flashlights, batteries, gloves, rakes, shovels, safety glasses
Non-perishable food: canned goods, peanut butter, protein bars
Bedding and hygiene items: blankets, sleeping bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant
Pet supplies: pet food, leashes, cat litter, bowls
Gift cards: grocery stores, gas stations, and major retailers
The initiative is intended to provide comfort, restore a sense of normalcy, and remind the community that they are not alone during recovery.
