Gov. Andy Beshear announced Friday that he has appointed Michael Boyd “Bo” Stacy II, of Cunningham, as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit of Kentucky, which comprises Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman counties.

Stacy replaces his father, Michael, who was the serving Commonwealth’s Attorney for the circuit before his death in April.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, Stacy has served as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in the circuit since 2020. His familiarity with the office, its operations and staff is expected to result in a smooth transition with minimal disruption to services or ongoing cases.

Stacy is a graduate of Heath High School in West Paducah and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky prior to attending law school.

Beshear also noted that Mike was “a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about the commonwealth,” and he called Bo “a great prosecutor, who will do a wonderful job in continuing his dad’s legacy.”

In the interim, 56th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins assisted in the transition.
