The National Weather Service in Nashville has announced a major technology upgrade that will temporarily impact weather radio broadcasts in Clarksville and surrounding areas.
Through Wednesday evening, NWS Nashville will perform a scheduled update to its Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System, which is used to integrate and distribute weather and water information.
During this period, NOAA Weather Radio transmitters operated by NWS Nashville — including the one serving Clarksville — will be off the air. While no interruptions are expected to core services such as forecasts and weather alerts, residents who rely on NOAA radios for updates should plan accordingly.
Forecast operations will be temporarily handled by the NWS office in Knoxville/Morristown during the upgrade.
