Christian County Public Schools officially unveiled the branding for its new consolidated high school Thursday morning, marking a key milestone in a nearly four-year process.
The new school, which will bring together students from Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School, is set to open for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel called the unveiling “a big day,” but emphasized that it is just one part of a much larger effort.
“We’re here today to set the brand, and that means a lot of things. It’s attire, it’s a logo, it’s a mascot, but to me it’s more than that,” Bentzel said. “This is just one step. It’s a big day, but it’s one step. It’s one step in the right direction. We have more work to do.”
The event was livestreamed to schools across the district and featured a 90-second video introducing the new color scheme, logo, and mascot. Bentzel said the brand represents a fresh beginning while honoring the legacy of both schools.
“This brand is a representation of unity. It’s bringing two schools together, bringing our community together. It’s combining great traditions,” he said. “ We don’t want to forget those traditions. We want to set a new course, a new pathway forward for our students.”
Bentzel added that while the branding is important, the focus remains on students and their future.
“It’s not about as much about me or the adults or the people that came before us, although we want to honor them every day and recognize why we’re here because of their work. We want to set course for people in front of us, our students, and the next generation,” he said.
The branding process involved extensive collaboration with students and the apparel company BSN.
“It’s been about a almost a four-year process, a lot of input, a lot of discussion, a lot of support from our students, and in collaboration with BSN, we feel like we put out a very strong brand with color schemes, mascots, and all the other side items that go with it,” Bentzel said.
As part of Friday’s announcement, the district also introduced Mr. Ken Carver as the executive principal of the new high school.
“We’re fortunate enough to introduce Mr. Carver, and he’ll hopefully brand the brand and put it to life, so we’re excited,” Bentzel said.
