A Hopkinsville man was charged with trafficking drugs and fleeing from a traffic stop on Mechanic Street in Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle for a seat belt violation, and the passenger, 26-year-old Tijuan Jackson, got out of the vehicle and started walking to a house.
He reportedly ignored the officer’s commands to stop and return to the vehicle, but did stop before entering the home.
Police say the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and after a search, a plastic bag of marijuana was located. Officers were reportedly able to get a search warrant for the home he was attempting to enter and located a handgun, 50 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.
Jackson was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and third-degree fleeing or evading police.
