The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has reduced the speed limit along a section of U.S. 68 near U.S. 68-Business/Main Street and the Interstate 24 Exit 65 access ramps in Trigg County. New speed limit signs were installed late last week.

Following an engineering and traffic study, KYTC has established two 45 mph zones on U.S. 68 outside Cadiz, along with 55 mph transition zones before and after the reduced speed areas.

The speed limit reduction is intended to enhance safety for vehicles turning into and out of businesses, as well as for those entering U.S. 68 from high-traffic areas, especially near interstate access ramps.

Approximately 11,168 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 68 in an average day.

With signs posted, the new speed limits are active and subject to enforcement.
