Daniel G. Bruzewski, 90, of Cadiz

Daniel G. Bruzewski, age 90, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his home in Cadiz.

Born on September 24, 1934, in Bay City, Michigan, he was the son of the late Otto Frank Bruzewski and Agnes Nalazek Jones.

Daniel served his country with distinction in the United States Army for 20 years, entering during the Korean War and including a tour in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star Medal and Air Medal for his bravery and service. After retiring from military service, he continued to serve as postmaster at Fort Campbell for a number of years.

Settling in Trigg County upon his retirement, Daniel oversaw the building of his new home near Lake Barkley, where he and his wife, Maria, happily resided for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Cadiz, as well as several organizations, including the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Daniel was an avid fisherman, coin collector, and card player, and he loved traveling across the country with Maria.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Bruzewski and Tom Jones; and his special aunt and uncle, Marge & “Slim” Wisniewski.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maria Kuckartz Bruzewski of Cadiz; his sons, Brian Bruzewski (Wendy) of Nashville, Tennessee and John Bruzewski of Buchanan, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Benjamin Bruzewski and Anna Sophie Bruzewski; his brothers, James Bruzewski, Robert Bruzewski, and Tim Bruzewski, all of Idaho; and his sisters, Sandy Larsen (Sid) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Marjorie Spies (Tom) of Franktown, Colorado.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Rd, Cadiz, Kentucky, with Father Gregory Trawick officiating. Visitation will precede the service, from 10:00 AM until the service hour. Committal rites with full military honors will follow at 1:00 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
