A Calloway County woman who once kept the books for a western Kentucky construction company is now headed to federal prison.

Amanda S. Robertson, 34, was sentenced this week to two years and one month behind bars, followed by two years of supervised release, after being convicted on six counts of wire fraud.

Her crime: embezzling over $1 million from her employer between May 2020 and May 2023.

According to federal prosecutors, Robertson used her position as a bookkeeper to siphon money from the company’s accounts—quietly and methodically—over the course of three years. She funneled the stolen funds into several businesses she owned and used the rest to cover personal expenses.

In addition to prison time, Robertson was ordered to pay $1.47 million in restitution.

There’s no parole in the federal system, meaning she’ll serve the full sentence behind bars.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Hopkinsville Satellite Office and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Raymond McGee from the Paducah Branch.

Federal authorities say this case is a stark reminder of how white-collar crimes can devastate small businesses—and how those responsible will be held accountable.
