It’s always a wonderful feeling when a non-profit organization finds the ideal fundraiser to support its programs and services.
It’s safe to say The Way Christian Youth Center in Cadiz has done that when it comes to their annual yard sale and pancake breakfast.
Opening the doors at 7:00 Saturday morning, volunteers counted 145 people waiting in line to get bargains and a delicious breakfast.
Director Carl Heckman compared the crowd waiting to that of an ideal shopping location in a major city.
Heckman added they had a wide variety of donated items for sale, with the remaining items handed over to AMVETS of Nashville.
Around 50 volunteers arranged the items for the yard sale and helped with preparations for the pancake breakfast leading up to Saturday.
The Way Christian Youth Center ministry began in 2011 inside the former Family Dollar on Main Street, before it was torn down for the current Dollar General. They would move to the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex before constructing their current facility behind Trigg County Public Schools.
A facility, where the main campus building has been fully paid off, and the activities building, still under construction, is not far behind.
Heckman thanked the community for its giving spirit.
