Hopkinsville Kiwanis Celebrates National Day of Prayer with Scholarships

Hopkinsville Kiwanis hosts the National Day of Prayer by giving back to the community. Thursday evening, First United Methodist Associate Pastor, Yasmel Reyes spoke about the importance of prayer.

click to download audioAs part of the meeting, Kiwanis awarded $4,000 in scholarships to Key Club members. As part of the selection project, recipients submitted an essay about their experience in Key Club, their high school transcripts, a list of extracurricular activities, and an advisor recommendation letter. All submissions were given to a committee for review. The following young ladies received $500 checks to use toward their freshman year in college:

Rebecca Wood

Ashton Grace

Hailey Craig

 

Kiwanis also presented the Bluegrass Youth Racing Foundation with a $1,000 sponsorship for the Hopkinsville Soap Box Derby this weekend at Ruff Park.
