Robert Elliott Malone, Jr., age 80, passed away at his home in Cadiz on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Born and raised in Trigg County, he was the son of the late Elliott Malone and Annie Williams Malone.
Robert was born on October 30, 1944. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karyn Jones, a brother, Edmund P. Malone III, sisters Betty Malone Hayes and Martha Malone Smith, brothers-in-law, Billy Powell, Doug Hayes, and Nick Mejia, and a niece, Terri Hayes Ortt.
While a student at Trigg County High School, Robert was active in the FFA and a member of the school’s marching band, in which he played the sousaphone. He was selected to attend the National FFA Convention in Kansas City in 1961 and played in the National FFA band. He also marched in the Derby Day Parade when the high school band was invited.
He retired from Flynn Enterprises after more than 40 years, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor, and was a member of Dyers Chapel Methodist Church, the grandson of a charter member.
Robert is survived by a grandson, James Alan Jones, two sisters, Celena Mejia of Trigg County and Vara Powell of Paducah, ten nieces and nephews, and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Dyers Chapel Methodist Church on Saturday, May 3, 2025. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the service at 12 pm. Burial will be in the Lawrence Cemetery.
