Funeral services for 92-year-old Billy J. Knight, of Hopkinsville, will be 2 PM Thursday at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday.
Survivors include:
His son, Keith A. Knight, of Hopkinsville;
His daughters, Wanda (Glenn) Gee, of Hopkinsville, Hope Pritchett, of Russellville;
His close family friend “The Favorite,” Matt Cline, of Hopkinsville;
His nephew, Carl (Janet) Carnes, of Hopkinsville;
His nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; along with several other nieces and nephews.
He died of natural causes Monday, April 28, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
He was born in Monroe, North Carolina, on July 20, 1932, the son of late Wilmer Lee and Lennie Tadlock Knight.
He retired from serving in the United States Army after 22 years. He was a Small Business Owner of Cadiz Road Body Shop. After closing the doors, he worked as a vocational education instructor for Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville and then after that he went on to be Co-Owner with his son of Billy Knight’s Body Shop.
He had a true passion for restoring old cars with his favorite being the 1940’s Ford’s. Billy was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Annie P. Knight in 1994; his son, Billy Ray Knight in 2020; his daughter, Barbara A. Spurlin in 2013; his brothers, J.W. Knight and R.J. Knight; his sisters, Georgia Carnes and Virginia Cannon; his granddaughter, Angela Redd; and his special friend of 15 years, Evelyn Walpole in 2013.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
