The Leadership Hopkinsville-Christian County Class of 2025 has marked a major milestone: the successful expansion of the parking lot at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center and Botanical Garden.

On April 25, class members teamed up with community partners to move and spread gravel, creating a more accessible and welcoming space for visitors.

Officials noted the project reflects what’s possible when a community comes together, and a big thanks has to go out to the Rogers Group, and their generous donation of high-quality gravel. Furthermore, critical support from Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority (HWEA) helped the vision quickly take shape. Under the leadership of Leroy Adams, HWEA provided machinery and manpower to haul and distribute the materials across the site.

Local businesses also stepped in: Copperband Technologies lent a hand, sending team members to help with the labor-intensive process of placing and leveling gravel. Their efforts—and the commitment of every volunteer—turned a simple idea into lasting impact.

In a written statement, class member Liz Grant also gave a special thanks to her boss, Bill Petersen, for allowing team members to volunteer.

Jeffers Bend, a resource offering environmental education, trails, and recreation, now stands ready to welcome even more families, students, and nature lovers.

Leadership Hopkinsville-Christian County isn’t stopping here—they look forward to continuing their work, proving that when a community invests in itself, the results ripple beyond a day’s work.
