A federal grand jury in Paducah recently indicted a Hopkinsville man on drug trafficking charges.

According to the March 11th indictment, 41-year-old Tommy Powers was charged with two counts of distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine in Christian County on October 11 and October 15.

Powers reportedly made his initial court appearance this week before U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, where he was detained pending trial.

If convicted, Powers faces a mandatory minimum sentence for 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

There is no parole in the federal system.
