
A federal grand jury in Paducah recently indicted a Hopkinsville man on charges of distributing cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the indictment, 41-year-old DeMarcus McCarley was charged with the offenses on May 15 2024, after he allegedly distributed a cocaine mixture and was in possession of a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Court records show McCarley has three previous convictions for trafficking cocaine in Christian Circuit Court, which occurred in December 2009, August 2010, and January 2015.
McCarley made his initial court appearance this week before U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, where he was detained pending trial.
If convicted, McCarley faces a mandatory minimum sentence for 15 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
There is no parole in the federal system.
This case is being investigated by the DEA Paducah Post of Duty Office, ATF Bowling Green Field Office, and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
