Willie Mae Moore was born on September 5, 1949, in Hickman to the late L.C. Freeman (Ruby) and Mary London Simmons (Johnny). She departed from this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Willie Mae confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. John Baptist Church, Pastor Kirby, where she was a faithful servant. Willie Mae served as secretary, Sunday school teacher for young adult and adult classes, and was also a member of the culinary committee. In the year of 2009, Willie Mae was seeking more from the Lord, and she joined Good Shepherd Church, late Pastor Dr. Jackie Shannon, where she was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost. Years later, God redirected her ministry to help spearhead Community Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Tyrone Wilson, now Pastor Chris Chambers.
Willie Mae retired from Douglas Auto Tech, and while she decided to occupy her time by working at McDonald’s, where she built a relationship with the customers by inspiring and encouraging them to hold on. Willie Mae always had a WORD for God’s people, not only in the workplace but in her everyday life, such as going on social media, uplifting and encouraging others throughout the world. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved being outside in her yard planting flowers, reading, cooking, watching game shows, fishing, and going to the thrift stores.
Wille Mae was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. Freeman (Ruby) and Mary London Simmons (Johnny) and one great grandson Christian Mack.
She leaves to forever cherish her memories, one son, Richard Moore, and two daughters, Marilyn (George) Mack, and Sheila Moore, all of Hopkinsville, Ky. In addition to her children, she helped raise Sammie Fryerson, Steve Fryerson, and Sonja Fryerson. Two brothers, Tommie Lee (Barbara) Freeman and Anthony Freeman, both of St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Louise Mitchell, Diana Williams Hickman, Kentucky, Janice Riley, Fulton County, Kentucky, and Brenda Williams of St. Louis, Missouri. Eight grandchildren: Anthony Moore, Markeisha Henry, Whitney Moore, Antonio Nelams, Tywan Mack, Tat’ianna Brison, Tiara Moore, and Darrius Moore, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.
Taylor Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Good Shepherd Church in Hopkinsville.
Visitation will begin Saturday morning at 1:00 at the church.
