The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is now accepting applications for game warden positions across the state. The deadline to apply is May 5, and candidates must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.

To apply, visit personnel.ky.gov and search for the Game Warden Recruit posting. The selection process includes physical and swim tests, interviews, background checks, and medical evaluations. Keep an eye on your email—including junk folders—for time-sensitive updates after applying.

If selected and not already certified, new recruits will complete 20 weeks of law enforcement training, followed by 14 weeks at the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Academy, and 12 more weeks of field training.

Game wardens are sworn law enforcement officers with statewide authority. Their mission: to enforce hunting, fishing, and boating laws while protecting Kentucky’s natural resources and public safety.

New wardens will be placed in counties across the state, including Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, and Christian, Trigg, Lyon, among many others.

To report fish and wildlife violations, call 1-800-25-ALERT or text “KFWLAW” with your message to 847411. You can also submit tips anonymously through the KFWLaw app, available on iTunes and Google Play.
