George Martin, 86, of Cadiz

George Melton Martin, age 86, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at his home.

Born on June 25, 1938, in Buford, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Charles Jack Martin and Audrey Lee Martin.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, George served his country with honor before embarking on a successful career as a pipe fitter with Union Local 633 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

He was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church in Cadiz and enjoyed the service and brotherhood of his membership in the Owensboro Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.

An avid outdoorsman, George was happiest when he was hunting or fishing, especially when those fishing trips were with his wife, Ruby. He enjoyed the comfort of home, where he could relax and watch his favorite television shows. Though he and Ruby did not have children of their own, George’s love for children was evident to all who knew him, and he was always ready with a smile and a piece of candy for any child he met.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Carrol J., Rodney L., and Ellis Leo Martin, Shirley Huskins, and Betty Lou Robinson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruby Johnson Martin of Cadiz, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at noon, Saturday, April 12, 2025, with Bro. Brad Chalfin officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Boyd Cemetery.
