Carolyn Faye Benton Gamble, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Hopkinsville.
Carolyn, the daughter of the late James Benton, Sr., and Virginia Benton, was born on April 18, 1950, in Russellville.
Carolyn confessed her love for the LORD at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Russellville, KY, under the Pastorate of the late Rev. J.O. McKinney. She served as an usher, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Adult Choir. Upon moving to Hopkinsville, she moved her membership to Virginia Street Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. M.O. Fort. There she served as an Usher, Deaconess, and was a part of the Missionary Ministry.
Carolyn was employed with Red Kapp Industries for several years and was an “in-house” beautician for her family and friends. Previously, she was employed as a Nurse Aide at Western State Hospital, worked in Management for Cato’s, and as a Phlebotomist for the local Dialysis Center.
Her hobbies included crafting. She has a green thumb for plants and flowers. She played with her sisters on a travel softball team call the “BB Busters”, where she was the pitcher. Those ladies we unstoppable.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Offutt.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Joe Gamble; Children, Deon T. (Felicia) Gamble, Sr., Bridget Gamble, and Shawnri Gamble; Siblings, Michael Benton, Sr., Beverly Black, Phyllis (Michael) Stevenson, Virgil Benton, Crystal Moore, Jimmy (Jackie) Benton, Paulette (Jimmy) Smith, Kathy (Kenneth) Edmonds, Cynthia (Thomas) Thornton, and Vivian Benton, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Services will be on Monday, April 14, 2025, at noon at the Virginia Street Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will begin at the church at 11:00 am on Monday.
