Man Charged With Kicking Officer During Crash Investigation

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting an officer and DUI after a wreck on Glass Avenue in Hopkinsville Tuesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they were investigating a wreck involving 51-year-old William Wyatt when he showed several signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

After being taken to the hospital for back pain, he reportedly started cussing and yelling, then kicked the officer’s hand.

Police say Wyatt had slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet, and had the odor of alcohol coming from him.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, DUI, resisting arrest, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
