Opening weekend attendance at the Western Kentucky State Fair is nearly double the number of people who entered the gates in 2019.
Fair officials say over 4,600 people attended the fair Sunday, pushing the total for the opening weekend to 16,850. That number is nearly twice as many as the weather-hampered fair of 2019.
In 2018, the opening weekend drew 12,792 people. There was no fair last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 70th edition of the Western Kentucky State Fair continues tonight with the pedal tractor pulls at the convention center and the return of the monster trucks at the main grandstand.
