A Hopkinsville man accused in the fatal shooting of Joey Hayes was back in Trigg Circuit Court Wednesday for a pretrial conference.
James Gentry is charged with complicity to murder, first-degree robbery, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. State police reported Gentry was arrested after Hayes was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a hay barn located on Buffalo Road in Trigg County on November 28, 2018.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jill Giordano said DNA reports were not expected to be completed until sometime between May and July. Citing the amount of time his client has been incarcerated and based on the presumption of his innocence, defense attorney Michael Thompson asked Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall for Gentry to be placed on home incarceration and an ankle monitor.
Judge Woodall denied the request.
Gentry will remain incarcerated at the Christian County Jail under a $1 million bond.
Judge Woodall set another pretrial conference for May 13th.
